What is PDF file?

PDF stands for Portable Document Format. There are few reasons why PDF is preferred file format in printing industry. It can contain vector elements (logos, vector cliparts), bitmaps (images), embed fonts and different colour spaces like RGB and CMYK.

What is Press-Ready PDF file?

Basic requirements for Press-ready PDF file are:

1. PDF file should contain embedded fonts. More on not embedded fonts.
2. PDF file should contain high resolution images. More on image resolution.
3. All elements in PDF file should be in CMYK colour space. More on colour spaces.
4. Pages in PDF file should have bleeds and all design elements should be within safe zone. More on bleeds and safe zone.
